The value of a Team
I can't overstate the value of having a team of trusted individuals who will push you to do great things. These are the people on whom you can rely to tell you the truth even if it's going to hurt but they say it because they know you can do better. Having a set of individuals around you who will elevate you to heights you never thought existed is so vital and once again that cannot be overstated.
Recently I teamed up with a Makeup Artist (MUA) and she has been modelling for me as well as doing some amazing makeup wizardry. It's a funny story because how we met was I simply asked her if she was a MUA and she responded yes and I said hey lets meet up and we met. Ok So not really funny but that's all it took, just saying hi. After we first met up we both realised we were in the same boat as far experience and needing to build respective portfolios. We also realised that we have had some pretty similiar shitty experiences when it comes to working with a few people. Above all else is the matter of dealing with flaky people. There are not enough superlatives to describe my disdain and utter abhorrence of flaky people.
In my experience I worked with someone who was a part of a team I had put together to put out material that would benefit artist. This person was supposed to provide a vital piece of work but just disappeared. Needless to say never working with this person again. But everything happens for a reason. If that person had done their part who knows what would've happened but when all is said and done, things didn't pan out for the better and that's ok. That team, with the exception of that one person, was and is great.
This new team however is shaping up to be one of the best I've been a part of and I can't describe how good it feels to work with committed people. People who understand that sacrifices have to made to make gains.
I don't want to sit here and badmouth anyone however. I'm not about that life because that reflects badly on me which isn't good for business. The previous team, barring that one person, like I said is a great set of people. I'd work with them on anything time and again, such is their professionalism and work ethic. Thats it. Nothing more to be said on that. That project has to just got to be put on the back burner for now but once things move in the right direction again that is the same team I'd want to work with in conjunction with this new team.
Whilst I'm here I'd like to introduce the newest member of this team being put together;
Meet Rachel a talented MUA based out of the MD/DC area who is trying to build her portfolio, whilst being an awesome mother.
As the team gets stronger I will continue to introduce the people I work with.
